The second furthest lake is Lake Boreham, aka Midview, and it currently hold the state record for smallies at 7lb 6oz caught in 1996. The lake holds mega walleye, I personally have seen an 8lb, 10lb, and 12lb come out this spring. The only tricky thing about Boreham is it is on the reservation. You need a special license to fish it, but well worth it.
The closest lake with walleye in it is Red Fleet. This lake is unique because there is not slot limit or possession limit on walleye. They are viewed as a pest and are believed to be illegally introduced to the lake. The DNR is trying to encourage fisherman to catch and kill all walleye in this lake. The thing is, not that many people fish Red Fleet for walleye, because it is such a good brown trout and bass lake. The DNR has been gill netting the lake and have recorded 10+lb walleye. I personally hope that the walleye stick around for ever, I think there is more fisherman out there, like me, that will embrace the walleye.
Right now is a perfect time to be on the water. The walleye are eating everything, and there is a great chance to catch some toads!!
Check out this Monster Eye! 27 1/2" Right at 10lbs. The girth was over 19". Awesome catch!
